CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) refers to a small block of volatile SRAM memory integrated into the motherboard's chipset. This memory stores current BIOS/UEFI parameters such as timing configuration, CPU and bus frequencies, boot device order, and the system's real-time clock (RTC) settings.
